Success At The 2013 Festival!

Fantastic news

Cobham Players WON the Adult Group competition for Best Play in the 10th Anniversary Leatherhead Drama Festival (better known as the Sir Michael Caine Drama Awards) with our production of “September In The Rain” by John Godber directed by Rodney Pearson.

The Junior Group winners were APPLAUSE YOUTH THEATRE COMPANY with ‘BURN’ by Deborah Gearing. Congratulations to them.

And it gets even better!

Jason Lambert  won the award for Best Actor in the adult group. And Samantha Myers received a nomination for Best Actress.  The adjudicator, Mike Kaiser, was extremely complementary about almost every aspect of the production and the technical team comprising Steve Farr on lights and Andrew Mair on sound were also singled out for praise.

At the Gala Awards Night on Saturday the prizes were presented  by Virginia McKenna – of “Carve Her Name With Pride” and “Born Free” fame – who was also very generous in her praise of our overall production and of Jason’s and  Sam’s individual performances.

So Cobham Players collected the famous Sir Michael Caine “Coach” trophy – recalling his role in “The Italian Job” – to keep for a year!
